Local Beaches
The English Riviera is famed for its 22 miles of unspoilt coast line and is home to over 20 beaches ranging from long sandy stretches to secluded rock coves. The beautiful coastline has the highest concentration of Blue Flag beaches in England; the ultimate accolade for beaches demonstrating high environmental standards, and many more are Marine Conservation Society Recommended.
Oddicombe Beach

Located within 10 minutes walk of Aveland House, Oddicombe beach is an
attractive stretch of shingle beach perfect for lying back in the sun,
relaxing and taking in the stunning views. The beach is reached by the
famous Heritage Babbacombe Cliff Railway running down the steep cliff
side or alternatively by the woodland covered winding road. Oddicombe is
a blue and green flag beach, with Babbacombe beach a short walk away.
Oddicombe has toilet facilities (including disabled facilities), Café,
Shop, First Aid, Deckchair Hire and Water Sport Facilities.
Babbacombe Beach
Babbacombe beach is a delightful small sandy shingle beach within 10
minutes walk of the Aveland House. Babbacombe beach is ideal for
relaxing in the sun, fishing from the sea wall or exploring the beaches
rock pools, it is also popular with diving groups and a favoured haven
for weekend sailors.
Meadfoot Beach

Meadfoot beach is within 10 minutes car drive of the Aveland
House. It is a stretch of shingle beach nestled at the base of an array
spectacular cliffs, providing the perfect setting for those who enjoy a
quieter environment in which they can relax in the sun, enjoy
spectacular views of Thatcher's Rock and Lyme Bay or climb over the many
rocks exposed at low tide. Facilities include car parking, shop, café
and toilets.
Torre Abbey Sands
Torre Abbey Sands is one of Torquay's larger beaches close to the town
centre and harbour. Adjacent to the beach is Torre Abbey Meadow, a great
spot for picnics and ball games, also close by are tennis courts,
bowling green and 9 hole mini golf course.
