Green Policy
We will endeavour to ensure, as far
as possible, that our activities have minimal impact upon the
environment. We encourage our guests to be environmentally aware through
initiatives such as recycling, energy efficiency, and the purchase of
environmentally friendly products. We support,use and promote local
produce, food, drink and crafts.
We use energy efficient light bulbs, lower temperatures and switch off
lights in unoccupied rooms. Roof and Cavity walls are insulated and all
windows and outside doors are double glazed. Fridges, Freezers, Washing
machines and Dishwashers are all eco friendly and are A rated. We are
reducing water usage by installing water saving devices in the cisterns,
& signs in rooms for re-use of towels
We are using water butts for
collection of rain water to water the garden and indoor plants.
We will promote and support local environmental projects; Torbay Coast &
Countryside Trust, Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, Living Coasts and
Kents Cavern.
We are members of the South West Coastal Path Association.
3. Reduce Waste by Recycling
Glass, Tin, Aluminium Cans, Plastic bottles, Paper and Cardboard, are
recycled, linen, clothes and household goods are given to charity shops.
We recycle plastic carrier bags and use long life bags for shopping. We
re-use plastic and crock containers for storage and garden use. We
re-use postal paper and packaging. We also recycle ink jet cartridges,
mobile phones, postage stamps and cooking oil.
We aim to use to use Eco–Friendly cleaning products and avoid purchasing
products with unnecessary packaging.
Aveland House is a non-smoking establishment. A supply of visitor
information on attractions, places to visit, walks and timetables are
available for guests. Aveland House offers secure storage for cyclists.

We promote and encourage wildlife, flora and fauna at the Aveland House.
We have erected nesting boxes and have a bird bath. We have additional
reference information on wildlife available for visitors.

Great Western, South West Trains, Virgin and Wessex trains have regular
services into Torquay. Virgin cross country routes run to Newton Abbot
with easy connections to Torquay.

Exeter airport is just 45minutesfrom the resort with regular flights
from Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle. Plymouth Airport(45
minutes) has regular flights from London and Manchester.

The English Riviera is easy to get around by
public transport so relax and let someone else take you wherever you
wish to go. There is a network of high frequency bus services from all
of the main accommodation areas to three bustling town centres, numerous
beaches and all the big tourist attractions, including an open top
service.
There are many all- inclusive travel passes available. Express bus
services provide fast links into the nearby cities of Exeter and
Plymouth.
Train services to Plymouth, Exeter and the neighbouring towns of
Teignmouth, Dawlish, Totnes and Newton Abbot run frequently from
Torquay.

coach and train services.

Cockington Bus
This service runs from Torquay's Princess gardens to Cockington
Village every 20 minutes daily between 10am and 4pm throughout the
Summer Season (May- Sept). A limited service is also available between
November and April. Call into Torquay Tourist Information centre for a
timetable and to purchase tickets.
7.6 Ferry Services
Several local
companies run regular excursions to Plymouth Exeter, Dartmoor,
Dartmouth, and Dawlish by boat. The Torbay Belle service
runs frequently between Torquay and Brixham harbours and takes in some
fabulous coastal views along the way. Paignton and Torquay town centres
are also connected by colourful road-trains.
